The Old Bakery is a high quality bed and breakfast situated in the Chiltern hills in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the charming village of Skirmett. It is just 7 miles from Henley-on-Thames, 7 miles from Marlow and 7 miles from High Wycombe where you can get a train to Marlyebone station in the centre of London which takes just 45 minutes. It is also just 30 minutes to Oxford where there is a park and ride service.
There are some excellent walks in the valley, especially the Thames walk across the lock to Henley. There are also some great cycling routes around Skirmett and plenty of wildlife. Red kites soar in the sky and wild deer can be seen roaming the countryside. The Vicar of Dibley and Midsomer Murders were filmed in the area.
The Frog, which is just 200 yards away, has been given the
award of dining pub of the year and is highly recommended for lunch or evening meals.
There is a golf course within 20 minutes drive. The Old Luxters Brewery now called Chiltern Valley Winery and Brewery is nearby and you can buy wines, ales and liqueurs in the cellar shop. There are tours and tasting sessions for larger parties. We have a lock up garage and ample parking on the driveway for 6-8 cars. We are open all year round including Christmas and New Year. A cot and highchair are available and some pets are accepted on request.
A full English Breakfast is served in the beamed dining room until 9.30 but we're happy to oblige for any other requirements.
